Animated Social Media Content for JCOB Cycling

JCOB Cycling is a legacy premium brand founded by legendary bike fitter John Cobb in 1972. Known for precision-engineered saddles, short cranksets, and aerodynamic components, JCOB serves dedicated triathletes, road racers, gravel riders, and MTB athletes. Their philosophy centers on individual biomechanics rather than mass-market appeal. The brand identity is technical, confident, and understated, built on a signature muted gold (#9f8561) against dark, clean backgrounds.

The Challenge

JCOB’s Instagram feed featured strong product photography and in-depth educational content, but it lacked dynamic, algorithm-friendly motion. Key launches (like the DM24 Short Crankset) and hero features — sub-680g weight, 8-bolt direct mount, optimized crank lengths — weren’t cutting through in a fast-scrolling environment. The brand needed content that could:
Communicate complex specs in under 3 seconds
Maintain premium, engineering-driven aesthetics
Drive traffic to product pages and selector tools
Work seamlessly across Feed, Reels, and Stories

The Approach

5-Post Core Series with a consistent motion language:

Post 1 – DM24 Short Crankset Launch Exploded-view 3D rotation revealing the 8-bolt system with a weight counter ticking down to “sub-680g”.
Post 2 – Saddle Selector CTA Split-screen morph between riding disciplines (triathlon, road, gravel) with saddles snapping into position.
Post 3 – “The Saddle Disappears” Testimonial Kinetic typography layered over slow-motion riding footage, featuring real rider quotes.
Post 4 – Crank Length Options Minimal synchronized rotation of 145 / 150 / 155mm cranks with clean spec callouts.
Post 5 – 50 Years of Innovation Elegant timeline animation highlighting milestones from 1972 to today, accented in JCOB gold.

Design Decisions

Color Palette: Deep charcoal backgrounds with signature muted gold accents and crisp white text — restrained and premium.
Typography: Clean geometric sans-serif. All-caps for technical specs, refined sentence case for storytelling.
Motion Language: Smooth, mechanical easing with no unnecessary bounce. Every transition feels like precision machinery — rotating cranks, sliding rails, and clean reveals.
Tools: Primarily Jitter for rapid animation + Figma for design prep.
Format: Built at 1080x1080 for feed, adapted vertically for Reels/Stories.

A cohesive animated campaign that respects JCOB’s engineering heritage while delivering modern social performance. The content turns complex product details into intuitive, emotionally engaging moments — helping serious athletes instantly understand why JCOB components make a difference.
