The Lightning Thief The story is about a kid (Percy) who is accused of stealing the lightning of a god (Zeus). He encounters several monsters and finds out that he is the son of the god of the sea (Poseidon). Zeus' symbol is the lightning bolt. Poseidon's symbol is the trident. Percy's shoes have wings attached to them. Percy goes on a quest to find Zeus' lightning bolt with his two best friends. The three friends get lost in the woods, they almost get turned to stone by Medusa, they hitchhike from New Jersey to Los Angeles, and they are almost stuck in the Underworld by Hades. They learn about courage and trusting each other. Percy has a sword and he can control water with his mind, including making a tidal wave. Annabeth has a dagger. Grover has a staff.
