Personal Website for Sanjeev Sanyal

A full redesign and rebuild of Sanjeev Sanyal's personal website, built around clarity, restraint, and long-term sustainability rather than visual novelty.

The project began with a complete migration of hundreds of CMS entries — years of accumulated articles, essays, and archival writing — into a more robust, future-proof content structure. Preserving that body of work while making it easier to maintain and extend going forward was the foundation the rest of the site was built on.

A dedicated books section was designed and built around a custom book component, bringing together decades of published work into a single, cohesive archive. Rather than treating each title as an isolated entry, the component was built to let readers move naturally between works, giving the collection a sense of continuity rather than a flat list.

Throughout, the priority was restraint over complexity. Every decision was weighed against a simple question: does this help the writing, or does it compete with it? The result is a site that feels fast, intuitive, and unobtrusive — one that gets out of the way so a substantial body of work becomes easy to discover and explore, rather than a design exercise layered on top of it.
