Summary: Building an empathy map to help colleagues understand users better.
An empathy map is a collaborative visualisation used to articulate what we know about a particular type of user. It externalises knowledge about users in order to 1) create a shared understanding of user needs, and 2) aid in decision making.
We start off with a persona type based on existing customers.
The persona gives us the following:
Story and details
Value and influences
Motivations and goals
Frustrations and pain points
With qualitative data, we start to build a map that helps to grow empathy based on users wants and needs. The map slowly builds up a collection thoughts, motivations, reactions and influences.
