Why sacrifice your hobbies, relationships, and free time while the guy who barely touches books gets straight As?

The reason is not what you think.

Hi, this is Ian, I’m currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in physics at Oxford University. I graduated high school with first-class honors and captained my school's cricket team.

I’m not telling you this to flex but to help you find the answer: why are you slow?

I'll be honest with you, I’m not smart or gifted; I also was a study zombie, just like most of you, until I discovered these study systems. Those reduced my study time to just 3 hours and improved my grades from Bs and Cs to straight As, ultimately leading me to my dream college.

*drum rolls*

Ladies and gentlemen, here are my top four easy to imply study techniques that led me from a Book-Bound Bot to “that guy” of my class.

Tip number 2 is my favorite.

Being able to focus on meaningful tasks without distractions is a skill that is rapidly going extinct. It's now harder than ever to focus for hours without distractions. And what can I even say when 80% of you can't even finish this 6-minute video?

See it's also easier than ever to climb to the top once you master the art of focus in a world of 8-second attention span.

No matter what your current attention span is, if you follow the steps I'm going to share, you will be able to focus more than most of the people around you- that's my promise.

Put your phone on do not disturb mode, throw it away, and start a stopwatch before every study session.

The moment you find yourself distracted by your internal thoughts stop the timer and take a short break. That's your focus baseline.

In each session, add an extra minute to your baseline and challenge yourself to concentrate for that longer period. Always remember breaks are important.

This is by far the best study technique I've ever used. This technique alone took my grades and understanding to the next level while saving me 2 hours of study. I can't tell you how much it will help you absorb and retain the lectures. Try it yourself you'll see the difference.

This should be the first step of learning, before attending lectures gather all the resources you’ll use for this chapter. Now start with the primary learning material but don’t just start reading line by line instead grab a notepad and a pen or pencil. Analyze graphs, and diagrams, skim the bolded lines, and list down keywords. Familiarize yourself with the unfamiliar words in the list you made.

Now, here comes the most interesting and important part, draw a diagram that illustrates the relations between the keywords. The main objective is to zoom out and see the big picture.

It usually takes 6 hours to edit my videos, but this time I completed this in just 4 hours. Want to know how?

I typically give myself 6 hours to edit, but when I lessened that down to 4 hours, surprisingly I completed that on time. So next time try setting a timer cutting the needed time by 15% and see the magic happen. But do not set unrealistic goals that way you will just burn yourself out.
