What is Advice?
Advice?Advice is a mobile app designed to revolutionize professional networking by fostering authentic, meaningful connections. Addressing the challenges of unanswered LinkedIn requests and transactional networking events, Advice offers a platform where professionals can connect intentionally—whether for mentorship, advice, or peer relationships. The app features a swipe-based system delivering two carefully curated daily matches based on users’ goals, interests, and industries. It also provides purposeful conversation starters to spark genuine engagement, moving beyond small talk to build lasting professional bonds. Advice aims to make every connection count, supporting personal and professional growth in an authentic way.
What I Did on This Project?
The client, Arjun, tasked me with building an MVP for Advice within a one-week timeline. Leveraging my extensive experience in developing coaching and dating apps, I delivered a fully functional app using Flutter and a robust tech stack. Here’s a systematic breakdown of my contributions:
Tech Stack Selection:

Cross-Platform Development: Single codebase for iOS and Android, slashing development time.
Fast Performance: Near-native speed via direct compilation to machine code.

Hot Reload: Rapid iteration and debugging, critical for a tight deadline.
- Integrated Supabase for database management, real-time chat, and user relationship mapping.
- Used Agora for video chat and audio messaging features.
- Implemented Firebase for push notifications and social media authentication.
Feature Development:
Built a swipe-based matching system with personalized daily matches (two per day) based on user profiles.
Designed conversation starters to enhance engagement and reduce awkwardness.
Enabled social media account authentication for seamless onboarding.
Developed real-time chat functionality using Supabase’s live updates.
Integrated video chat and audio messaging via Agora for richer communication.
Created a network relationship system to connect users by shared categories and interests.
Development Practices:
Utilized Flutter Bloc for efficient global state management, ensuring a scalable architecture.
Set up a CI/CD pipeline with CircleCI, automating builds, tests, and internal testing deployments.
Completed the MVP in just one week, delivering all requested features on time.
