Bulgarian Textbook for Refugee and Migrant Children

There were no Bulgarian textbooks tailored for refugee and migrant children.
Young learners had to use materials intended for adults, which led teachers to raise concerns that the content was not age‑appropriate. For this project, carried out in 2022, I teamed up with educators and UNHCR to create a textbook designed to fill this gap. Once completed, the books were distributed free of charge to children, schools, and teachers working with learners of all backgrounds.

For students from first grade to teens.
The textbook follows the journeys of 3 main characters: Raisa (a girl from Odesa), Samir (a boy from Afghanistan), and Elena, a fellow local student helping them learn Bulgarian. An engaging resource that goes beyond translation. Soft colour illustrations and a layout that leaves enough space for kids to practise their handwriting make it easy to use and work with. As a whole, the book aims to help students feel more at ease and more connected to their new environment.
The textbook is free for everyone who needs it.
It comes with a black-and-white workbook containing 120 additional exercises and many illustrations ready to be coloured.
Year: 2022 Pages: 114 pp. (textbook), 46 pp. (workbook) Paper: 120 gsm (covers), 90 gsm (inner pages) Editions: 2 editions
