Linux satellite field unit prototype

While volunteering in national parks I created a working system to help researchers and visitors gather field data and communicate. The waterproof prototype unit creates a WiFi hotspot and hosts a simple application that can be used by nearby devices to send/receive short messages via the global Iridium satellite network and my own cloud service.
