The Story of Nahar Pukhuri .how this Nahor Pukhuri was discovered/created. It was in the reign of Ahom Raja Sukhaamphaa when this pond was digged. He ruled from the year 1552. This Ahom King was also called Khora Roja. He used to love hunting very much, and once while on hunting he fell from an elephant which led to amputation of his one limb. Hence, he is called the Khora Raja. He had many wives. Among them, the eldest and the youngest one was very beautiful. And the king loved them the most. But even though, he didn’t have any son. And therefore, he brought a young boy called Nahor from their family for adoption as his own. Getting the blessing of the king as the adopted child, Nahor grew up to be an expert in various field of work. And since he became expert in various fields, he used to do some works on his own accord. And hence he came from the south part of Brahmaputra to the north part of Brahmaputra, i.e., in Lakhimpur. He then dug up a pond and constructed a road. And this pond came into existence.
