This awareness, in many things gets applied and some could
be existing even today. For superstitions to knowledge to improve the climate,
environment, health, technology, such progress, or the approach to reach
towards truth, is quintessential, but also natural for man. If man wouldn’t
have been aware of ozone layer depleting, chlorofluorocarbons would not have
been banned from use. It was knowledge about fossil fuels turning into carbon
rich substances that gasoline was produced, as for energy, but the pollution
caused by automobiles for the same requires similar awareness. There are many
questions that haven’t got the scientific answers but theories, such as why do
all the living things age and decay, what could have been the origin of water
on Earth, what makes Earth the only living planet to date etc. There are many
diseases that mankind has no cure of and are even life threatening in nature,
like cancer that tops the list, however certain medications and therapies do
exist and there has been but improvements over time. It is the improvement that
could optimistically make progress for man and reduce the suffering in future.
Practising one’s beliefs on religion , God, etc. are not wrong but if driven by
fear or misinformation would make it as meaningless as the scientific knowledge
used for more harm than good. As per philanthropic point of view it wouldn’t be
wrong to assume that instead of capitalising on weapons of mass destruction by
a nation, aiming to uplift the poor of the nation and propagate peace to other
nations and ultimately the world, may ensure less wastage of energy and even
more progressive use of the nation’s money. If education paves way for a
happier and knowledgeable and aware world then, it should not be wrong to say
that education is necessary for providing answers to the questions as stated
above or the cure for the incurable (as of now) diseases. Though it may seem
imaginative but unlike the gasoline used in the present if renewable energy and
non polluting form of energy if used in this sector of automobiles in future
would help the environment. A new development in technology is the artificial
intelligence, that though was considered something to be frightened of in the
past, now with strict supervision and regulation that it is helping mankind, as
it used to be imagined that robots would help in work with humans has been
happening however to develop it to an extent to help it in domestic chores and
the like seems plausible with artificial intelligence however if these things
replace jobs or generate newer opportunities lies with the choices and
decisions made by man. During the 1840s, Ignaz Semmelweis’s demonstrating the
importance of hand washing to tackle the childbed fever improved maternal
mortality rates, during which it was believed that a woman had more chances of
survival if given childbirth on the road instead of in hospitals, highlighting
the importance of antiseptics that were not taken so seriously back then
leading to awareness of preventable deaths. It is surprising to get a glimpse
of human behaviour that there isn’t any scientific reason to base a day into 24
hours. It is fascinating to wonder that man nowadays can go unknown places
using his phone unlike olden days when he might have had to keep a map and ask
people!
