The art films that Christopher Nolan creates also have the most amazing VFX and CGI; look at Interstellar for instance. It created one of the most realistic space atmosphere I have ever seen. And yet, the appreciation of how the story was narrated overwhelms anything that the film provides. And how the story was narrated?
Through edit. Not the VFX or heavy motion graphic edit. The "cut" edit. As simple as it sounds, one wrong cut can collapse an entire film's storyline and therefore, spoil the script and years spent on shooting it in an instant.
