Why is ‘close’ 2022 overrated?
Hub
PLOT :
A movie based on friendship , where two friends ‘Leo’ and ‘Remi’ who are very close to each other and share an intimate bond with one another, but things take sudden change , when their intimacy has been questioned by other kids ( or in other words they were thought to be gay among their school friends) to encounter the question ‘Leo’ claims himself as just a friend to ‘Remi’ , and that’s where the movie starts
```
“On how two friends, who were very close to each
other and their magical ecstatic bond turn into an
awkward relationship because of the judgement of
others which is simply targeting the sexuality of ‘LEO’
because of the idea that he might not be accepted by
society , he started seeing ‘REMI’ as a threat to his
masculinity.”
Now why is ‘CLOSE’ so appreciated by everyone?
No wonder Lukas Dhont has done a marvellous direction ,and so does the cinematography of the movie which is so appealing , done by Frank Van Eeden and the magical music by Valentin Hadjadj which takes you to the whole different universe and the performers( or actors ) of the movie has done an brilliant job especially Eden Dambrine who has perfectly presented the character of ‘Leo.’
Despite the great contribution of all the names mentioned above , the reason for the movie to be appreciated so much is because it is in some hidden way supporting the ‘LGBT’ community and as always targeting the society as the negative factor which will never allow the ‘LGBT’ community to be a part of them.
There is this new culture where if you want to make commercial movie you must go into superheroes genre or starts some franchise , and if you want the movie to go to film festivals and Oscar then you simply make a movie on ‘LGBT’ community — exaggerate their sadness and blame the society and then all the doors of film festival are open for you and if the victim of your movie are teens you might make it to the Oscar and may be win it just like ‘MOONLIGHT’ did.
Let’s listen to Lukas Dhont , what he has to say about his masterpiece -
“I think that as a young man growing up i had a lot of
friendships with other boys that at a certain point in time
i started to fear because i understood that , that intimacy
is something that this world is not used to and wants to label
and wants to put in a box”
- Lukas Dhont
I completely agree with the statement given by Lukas Dhont about how society reacts to the same gender relationships , if you share an intimate relation to the same gender , you are technically a gay, lesbian or whatever. Society still see this as a threat to their customs and their beliefs.
But the reason i am against this approach of cinema is that the promotion of the LGBT community where they always target
the masculinity to be the issue of everything , where they are always going to target this male dominant world and that this approach that — male doesn’t have privilege to be emotional and to be understand and giving this wrong idea to the younger generations about how male cannot express his emotion — i am a male i must clarify it is not really the truth , men also cry but they have their own way to express it, everyone has their own way to express their emotion but because of the rise of feminine they want us not only to have equal rights but also share equal way of expressing the emotion. It’s more like not expressing the emotions of one who his homosexual but creating a confusion in the mind of the one who is not. Or in other words creating a doubt in an amateur teen about his own sexuality , more like converting the straight to the gay or lesbian by using the most powerful medium of art ‘CINEMA.’
I am a filmmaker too , i know one has all the right to show
Share his opinion , his perception of how one sees the world
Not to share or promote your own ideas or fantasies.
But fairly speaking , Lukas Dhont masterpiece ‘CLOSE’ is not something which was new to me , i don’t see much difference between ‘CLOSE’ and ‘MOONLIGHT.’
And yes the statement given by LUKAS DHONT if examined properly, clearly shows that he is gay and he is biased.
