I got contacted by Lladró for the first time since they were looking for a 3D Designer able to create animated environments for a commercial advertising the brand during the Christmas season of 2021.

They were inspired and interested in a cut-out aesthetic which allowed to bring to life the elegant and magical world of Lladrós porcelain sculptures.

First step was to understand the brand and their needs. After the success of their online sales and the reinforcement as a sculpture brand, they wanted to create a bigger campaign for the Christmas season which is a focal point in sales for the brand. This implies content for their social media, website and magazine with a tight deadline of 2 months.

Lladrós catalogue can be split in 2 sections depending on the age and style of the craft: Heritage and New Concept, which can be classified as traditional and fresh. These categories will help decide the environments to create and what products include in them.

The elegant and charming world of Lladró is displayed through a magical forest which leads to theme park attractions and cozy houses. The attractions served a double purpose since they were also displayed at stores along the products.

Deciding the products took several iterations from the brand team while my job was to bring the different sets to life, include the 3D scanned products and work on the animations and timing.

After assembling the whole assets into the scene project, my work consisted in achieving the animatic preview of the final result while also work on the look & feel (color scheme and materials).

The final part of the animation consisted in adding the snow particle systems and lighting to really bring the 2D cut-out effect to the 3D scene. This was the most defining step in the process since it could really elevate the final product or make it look sloppy. And after all the work, it was time to hit render and let the computer do the heavy magic!

During the process, big part of the generated material was meant to be displayed through social media, so I also took care and work in rearranging the scenes to make the compositions fit in mobile devices resolutions (this meant to render the animation again)
