ConfessItUp: Anonymous Confessions, Sorted by City
Overview An anonymous confession platform with a twist: posts are sorted by city instead of by user. No account, no login, no name attached, just what people in your city are actually thinking, right now.
The Idea Most confession apps flatten everyone into one global feed. ConfessItUp's core idea was simple but underused: location changes what people actually want to say and see. A confession from your own city hits differently than one from a stranger three timezones away.
Approach Built with Next.js, React, Tailwind, and Shadcn. Confessions get tagged and filtered by city on submission, with a clean, minimalist UI that keeps the focus on the content, not the chrome around it.
What I'd Do Differently This was one of my earliest projects, and it shows in the implementation, the idea is stronger than the execution. Looking back, the moderation flow and city-matching logic could go deeper, and there's real room to make the discovery experience richer than a flat feed.
Why It's Still Worth Showing Early projects reveal how someone thinks, not just what they can polish. ConfessItUp is proof I can spot a genuinely different angle on a common idea (anonymous confessions) and ship it end to end. The rougher edges are honest, not hidden, and they're exactly what I've since gotten better at fixing.
Stack Next.js, React, Supabase.
