On a world conquered by aliens who imprison its gods, Tarvalla discovers that her sister’s invasive dreams echo the suffering of a captive solar god. She breaks into his containment chamber to free him—but first demands an oath: he must help humanity without ruling it.

The series follows Tarvalla as she seeks the surviving gods and confronts both the alien occupiers and the harm the old gods caused before their capture. Each rescue forces a choice about what freedom should mean.
