Benefits of Taking Care of Yourself 😍:
It boosts your mental health 🧠
Self-care has many benefits, including boosting your mental health and reducing stress levels. When you show yourself some love and gentleness, you start to respect yourself. We often tend to be hard on ourselves, so it's good to slow down for a moment from time to time. However, be mindful that self-care routines can become a trap if you become too self-indulgent. Like everything, too much so-called self-care may be harmful and become just another form of escapism. If you struggle with anxiety or other disorders, you may benefit from taking a little time for yourself. It improves your confidence 😎
I have always been a shy person (still working on it), and a self-care routine has been really helpful in overcoming that shyness. As I mentioned earlier, gentleness impacts your perception of self-respect.
You will be more likely to make friendships 😊
When you learn how to love yourself, you will learn how to love others. In addition to boosting your confidence, self-care routines can also help you form meaningful friendships. I often see that self-conscious people are more likely to be taken advantage of in their friendships because they don't feel good enough to express their opinions. When you develop a sense of self-worth, you will be able to make good friends.
My tips on how to establish a self-care routine:
Get yourself a reminder ⏰
If you prefer a certain time, set a reminder for when it's most convenient for you. If you don't like strict schedules and prefer being spontaneous, you might want to write a reminder in a visible place and do something for yourself whenever you feel like it.
Make space for yourself 🥰
You may find it easier to relax if you have a special place for self-care. Having a salt lamp or some cozy blankets can be very helpful.
Put on some relaxing music 📻
I absolutely love this one! It doesn't have to be music; it can be white noise or anything you find relaxing.
Meditate! 🧘‍♂️
Meditation doesn't mean you need to set aside a whole hour for yourself. Even one minute can be beneficial in finding your inner peace and focus. Anytime you feel overwhelmed, close your eyes and focus on your breath. It may be hard at first, but with practice, you'll be able to return to that state of peace more easily.
What actually is a self-care routine?
It's any time you take care of yourself. It may be before going to bed, in the middle of the day, or very early in the morning. Furthermore, it doesn't matter when you take time for yourself; the most important thing is to remember to do it. So, when you have time, just take a deep breath, listen to or read some affirmations, go for a walk, do a mindfulness meditation, go on a date with yourself—whatever works for you. REMEMBER YOU ARE AMAZING AND YOU DESERVE ALL THE LOVE.
