I have been interested in True Crime since I was in elementary school, I know that sounds early to some. But growing up in one of cities in America with some of the highest crime rates, I didn't stand a chance. I also grew up watching shows like Law & Order: SVU, Cold Case Files, and Criminal Minds on the days I stayed home sick from school.
All that being said, the interest in True Crime faded as I grew into my teenage years when boys and driving were the most important things to any teenage girl that I knew. Then when looking into colleges to further my education, I discovered Forensic Psychology. While I'm not on the pathway of becoming a Forensic Psychologist currently, it reignited my love for True Crime.
In 2018 when the Golden State Killer case was solved using primarily Citizen Detectives, I knew I wanted to explore that realm. Like most of us, I had no idea how accessible some case information is. So, I started doing some digging. At first it was about some murder's I had known about growing up and learning more about them. Discovering what had actually happened in the victims last fateful hours, and I was content with that for a few years.
Until 2021, when one of my close friend's cousin got gunned down in the street. I didn't know the victim personally. However, seeing the way the murder had effected my friend, I had to do something. I got as much information as I could from my friend and have since gone down a rabbit hole.
I was successful in getting the victims case posted on a popular Citizen Detective website and provided them with a map, listed times, and all possible information. Now his case is being worked on by other citizen detectives around the country and hopefully, this will add pressure to the local police detectives.
