Writing a Manual for a Synthesiser That Doesn’t Exist (Yet)
I recently created a user manual for the Positron 16, a synthesizer concept that I designed from the ground up. The goal? I wanted to see how clearly I could explain a complex, modular-style instrument as if it was a real commercial product.
This has been a great exercise in technical writing - taking something abstract and making it accessible to both beginners and experienced users.
The manual includes:
An introduction to synthesis
Signal flow and modulation diagrams
Clear, structured descriptions of each module
A glossary for new users
A focus on UX - helping musicians understand the features
🛠 Tools used: Google Docs, Illustrator, Photoshop, Blender (for concept visuals), my passion for synthesisers and writing
