TrackDairy: Building a Modern SaaS Platform for Dairy Farm Management

Project Overview:

TrackDairy is a farm management platform designed for dairy farms that need a better way to run and understand their operations. The goal was to replace scattered paper records, spreadsheets, and memory-based processes with a centralized, real-time system that makes farm data easier to manage and more useful for decision-making.
I built the product from the ground up, covering product strategy, workflow planning, UI, frontend, backend, database design, deployment, and ongoing iteration.

The Problem

Many dairy farms still manage important information through notebooks, Excel sheets, informal communication, or disconnected tools. That makes it difficult to track operations consistently and even harder to use data in a meaningful way.
This creates several problems:
records are scattered and hard to retrieve
important workflows are disconnected
decisions depend too much on guesswork
farm owners have data, but not clear visibility
operational patterns and insights are easily missed
After speaking with dairy farm owners and workers, it became clear that the need was not just for software, but for a practical system that reflects real farm workflows and turns daily activity into usable business insight.

The Approach

My approach was to build TrackDairy not as a set of isolated modules, but as a connected operating system for farm management.
That meant focusing on three things:
Practical workflows The platform had to match how dairy farms actually operate day to day.
Connected data Animals, milk, health, feed, inventory, sales, and expenses all influence each other, so the system needed to reflect those relationships.
Decision support The goal was not only to digitize records, but to help farm owners understand what their data means and how they can act on it.
From a technical perspective, the product was shaped around a modular SaaS architecture, structured permissions, and a system design that could scale as farms and features grow.

The Solution

TrackDairy brings core dairy farm operations into one streamlined dashboard. The platform includes modules for:
animal lifecycle and records
milk collection and sales
health tracking
feed management
inventory
expenses and financials
employee management
analytics and insights
By connecting these areas into one product, TrackDairy helps farm owners move from fragmented record-keeping to a more organized and data-driven way of managing the farm.
A key part of the solution was also making the product understandable for non-technical users while still handling complex relationships behind the scenes.

Results

TrackDairy is now publicly launched, live in production, and being used by 13 farms.
That outcome matters because it shows:
the problem is real
farms are willing to adopt a structured digital workflow
the product is being validated in actual usage, not just as a concept
Beyond product adoption, TrackDairy also demonstrates my ability to take a software product from idea to launch, combining domain understanding, product thinking, technical execution, and iteration based on real feedback.

Key Takeaways

TrackDairy taught me that strong software is not just about building features. It is about understanding workflows, designing systems around real user behavior, and turning raw operational activity into something structured and useful.
For me, TrackDairy is more than a portfolio project. It is a real SaaS product that reflects how I like to work: solving practical business problems through thoughtful product design and full-stack execution.
