Motion Simulator Cover Design

Beyond Apparel Stepping outside traditional apparel design, this project explores the creation of a custom motion simulator cover using CLO3D. My goal was to apply pattern-making principles to a non-wearable form, developing a functional 3D product pattern that balances precision, structure, and aesthetics.

Process Starting from reference measurements and the simulator’s functional requirements, I built a fully custom 3D model in CLO3D, simulating Yulex/Neoprene-like laminated foam to capture the product’s realistic drape and structure. Each pattern piece was drafted from scratch, refined through digital fitting, and finalized for accurate production using grommets, magnetic closures, and reinforced seam placements.

Outcome The Motion Simulator Cover demonstrates how digital fashion tools can extend beyond clothing into industrial and custom equipment design. By translating the 3D concept into a technical package, I proved how CLO3D can function as a rapid proof-of-concept pipeline from visualization to production-ready documentation.

Using the client’s simulator model as a virtual avatar, I was able to build directly over the digital prototype, ensuring perfect fit and dimensional accuracy before fabrication. This workflow validated the feasibility of applying digital garment simulation to custom hardware products, bridging creative design with precise engineering output.
