My Journey as a Contra Ambassador 😌

I first heard about Contra through a fellow graphic designer and friend of mine. She was unusually excited about a new opportunity she had been given to help build and promote a new platform for independents. This excitement was present in part as it always is with any new project, but also because the platform had a unique, energetic, and optimistic feel to it. Contra as a platform promises (and delivers) to offer independent creative minds a one-stop shop experience for all their freelance services as well as building a community of peers and collaborators.

The forward momentum Contra has was immediately evident in my first call with Co-Founder Zoe. Her bubbly personality and attitude was contagious and a clear reflection of the positive working environment she is a part of. The steps, as far as I was concerned, were clearly laid out for me from the beginning. Notion is where I found, and checked off once completed, all my tasks and activities for the two weeks. They were clear and concise, and I had no confusion over what I was being asked to do. The Contra community can be found on Slack, and is a treasure chest of young driven individuals with a plethora of good advice and experiences they're willing to share.

The tasks as an ambassador are geared towards improving Contra as a platform, as you, the creative, see it. This opportunity to share my insights and ideas on something that will ultimately serve to help me and my career has been made a blast by the Contra team. Using Loom to record my feedback has been a breeze to navigate, and allows for quick and easy communication of what would otherwise be complex ideas to share through email or traditional methods of feedback. Sharing Contra to my socials has also been easy as it gives me a sense of pride more than anything.

Seeing Contra through the lens of a Graphic Designer, I love the bright and bubbly visual elements interlaced with the simple intuitive interface. The viewer really gets a sense of the positive collaborative atmosphere Contra is hoping to create. The feedback I've offered, I hope, helps to polish this further.

Overall I've enjoyed my time as an ambassador immensely and would do it again in a heartbeat 💛
