When a 200-year-old building material inspection company with over 20 websites decided to centralise and modernise content and systems, it reached our company.

The primary challenge was to audit and redesign the current design system for tech feasibility and digital accessibility adherence and start delivering components to developers as the dev sprint was about to begin.

With a phased launch plan which aligned with the dev sprint and I worked with a cross-functional team consisting of a product manager, experience director, principal designer and content writer.

My approach was to identify components that were needed in the upcoming sprint and leave off the ones that would be required in future sprints, this phased plan allowed me to fix components and deliver them on time without delaying the project.

After 8 months we shipped a fresh new website with new content, design and a centralised system to manage content and a couple of e-commerce products. It was a lone-wolf achievement, it was teamwork. The client received a more performant and modern update on its digital presence.

I learned that there is no situation where you can deliver, it's just about looking at the problem with a different perspective, and working with what you have.
