Seatloom: thoughtful workshops, dependable booking

A full-stack workshop booking product for creative studios, independently designed and built by Noerong with Bolt.

The challenge

A beautiful catalogue is only the beginning. Studios also need to handle the final seat, a cancellation, a waiting list, a session change, and attendance without losing track of people.

My role

Product strategy, interface design, React and TypeScript development, database workflows, testing, deployment, and source-kit documentation. This is a self-initiated product, not commissioned client work.

The experience

An editorial catalogue presents workshops, materials, prerequisites, accessibility, dates, and availability. A fictional studio offers an interactive no-login demo. Real studios and attendees use separate authenticated workflows.
Organizers create and publish workshops, schedule sessions, manage capacity, inspect rosters, and check in attendees. Attendees reserve a free place, cancel, or reschedule. Full sessions support first-in-first-out waitlists with 15-minute offers.

Design decisions

Warm paper, ink typography, a restrained plum accent, and workshop photography give the product an editorial identity. Responsive layouts, labelled controls, focus-managed dialogs, and explicit time zones keep the interface practical.

Engineering behind the interface

PostgreSQL transactions lock sessions before allocating seats. Confirmed bookings and active offers count toward capacity. Rescheduling locks both sessions in a stable order and preserves the original booking if the move fails. Row-level security and owner-checked functions protect attendee records.

Verification

30 domain tests and 27 isolated PostgreSQL checks passed. A confirmed account was also tested on the live deployment through studio creation, workshop publication, reservation, rescheduling, roster access, check-in, and cancellation. The live test exposed a hosted database type mismatch, which was corrected and retested before release.

Clear scope

This version supports free reservations only. Booking updates are in-app. Payment collection, automatic booking-email delivery, a native camera scanner, and a background queue worker are not included. Demo people and studios are fictional. No client results, revenue gains, or security certifications are claimed.

The editable source kit is available separately for $99. A tightly scoped setup service starts at $249. Hosting and provider costs are separate.
