This website was a complete redesign on the Adobe Experience Manager platform, utilizing an existing design system. Initially completed in 2022, and has been maintained and updated by me since.
UX Research & Site Planning
We started with a research phase. I needed to determine all the pain points of the old website and the needs of their customers. The primary issue with the previous site is that it took too many clicks for users to find product information. In addition the rest of the menu had too many options and did not provide high value resources for the target audience. It was also decided at this phase that Ameristar would be combining 2 sites and all their products under 1 new domain.
Old website: menu did not cascade, overall design was cramped. lack of visual hierarchy.
Determining how to organize 35+ products (at the time) in an easy to understand way was the first challenge. But after several internal meetings we landed on a menu structure:
Cascading mega menu allows users to quickly filter down to a product family.
Large product tiles help the user find the product they are looking for, with navigation on the left to move between categories.
Design Stage
With a website plan in place, I moved on to designed sample pages for each type of page we needed: features, resource pages, product pages, and product categories. Along with the contact pages, about us, home page, etc.
I worked with key decision makers to gain approval for each page type before moving on to the rest of the site. Having an approved template in place streamlined the rest of the website build.

Post Launch & Improvements
After launch, we continued listening to the needs of our users to add improvements to the site. One of the largest additions was integrating MetaLocator, so customers could easily find and contact a local installer or distributor of the products.
Embedded MetaLocator interface to "Find your contractor"
I also took this tool a step further and added an interface for users to find the sales team member serving their region. The company has a large sales team that divides customers by state/province and in some cases by zipcode. Implementing MetaLocator in this way solved a large pain point and allows customers to feel more connected to their sales team.
