Simm3r Restaurant and Café is a fine dining brand based in Rayfield, Jos, and one of the city's top-rated dining experiences. A 4.3-star rated restaurant blending Nigerian culinary heritage with world-class refinement.
I took this on as a personal project after noticing that their online presence wasn't doing justice to the quality of their brand. The goal was to build something modern, luxurious and functional from the ground up.
Design & Discovery
Audited the existing website to understand what was working, preserved useful copy and studied the reservation flow before making any changes
Researched what makes restaurant websites convert, balancing aesthetics, performance and business function
Built a mood board from Dribbble references, tested with Google Stitch, then refined by hand-picking the strongest elements from individual designs
Chose a direction that was warm, rich and luxurious, letting the restaurant's own photography and video do the heavy lifting rather than relying on stock imagery
Before: Old Website Design
Key Deliverables
Built a fully responsive 6-page website covering Home, Menu, About, Contact, Catering Services and Culinary School
Developed an interactive menu page with live search and category filters across all meal types
Built a fully functional reservation form handling guest count, meal type, date, time, dietary requirements and special requests, powered by Resend
Implemented scroll-based animations using Motion for React to give the site a premium, intentional feel
Sourced all media directly from the restaurant's Instagram and Google Business page, replacing generic stock photography entirely with authentic brand visuals
Managed all images and videos through Cloudinary for optimised delivery and responsive performance across devices
Ran the site through Lighthouse after deployment, made targeted improvements and achieved strong scores across SEO, performance and accessibility.
Delivered a website that matches the quality and character of Simm3r's physical dining experience. The use of authentic media, intentional design and a working reservation flow transforms the site from a passive placeholder into an active part of the brand's customer journey.
