Issues 21 is an experimental, editorial piece, created to explore consumerism as a method to escape.
In this past year of change, that lousy habit has exploded. But not everything has been negative: luckily, in recent months I have found dozens of admirable fashion stores. Almost all of small production, with unique pieces, created by one or two people who take care of all the processes and who appreciate each sale, because you are contributing to a dream. I am increasingly aware that you have to buy less and better. Consumption by consumption does not leave space to give value to things. Hence the connection with ISSUES 21.
This is a catalog that I have made with some pieces of this season from my favorite stores, associating each garment with a concern that I will be ignoring if I buy it, in my attempt to distract myself from the uncontrollable through consumption.
With this I have proposed two things: the first, to put my ailments into perspective —some more trivial than others, all too personal— and downplay them; the second and main one, sharing the treasures that I have found on my way to the economic embargo, with thirty-five brands that I think you have to know to start making small purchase changes.
No brand has paid to appear in this catalog: the decision to offer them a space is solely mine.
Very limited units. You can buy a copy here. Each catalog includes a cloth handkerchief that turns into a bag, a handkerchief, a scrunchie...
