Line & Copy Editing Case Study — Turning a Good Draft Into a Polished Reading Experience
The Challenge:
The story was complete, but sentence-level issues were distracting from it. Repetitive wording, awkward sentences, inconsistent punctuation, unclear passages, and unnecessary words occasionally interrupted the reading experience.
The story didn’t need to become someone else’s writing—it needed a careful polish.
My Approach:
I worked through the manuscript line by line, improving clarity, readability, grammar, sentence flow, dialogue, word choice, and consistency while paying close attention to the author’s individual style.
Rather than making changes simply because I preferred different wording, I focused on edits that made the prose clearer, smoother, and more effective.
The Result:
The manuscript became cleaner and easier to read while retaining the personality that made it the author’s work.
My editing addressed grammar, punctuation, repetition, sentence structure, dialogue formatting, consistency, awkward phrasing, and unnecessary wording.
For authors, that means fewer distractions between the reader and the story—and a manuscript that feels polished without losing the voice that made it unique.
