Case Study: Building the Future of Neurotherapy Technology
Role: Lead Senior Engineer – Full Stack Capacity
Client: Leading Neurotechnology Company (Confidential)
Stack: AWS, React Native, Flutter, Node.js, BLE, Python, PostgreSQL, Github Actions, Terraform, AI

Overview
As Lead Senior Engineer under DreamViz Software Development, I was responsible for architecting and developing the digital infrastructure behind a groundbreaking neurotherapy platform designed to support children with developmental conditions. The company’s mission was to combine wearable light-based therapy with real-time data feedback, enabling a continuous improvement loop between the participant and the clinician.
My role involved unifying hardware, software, and AI into a seamless HIPAA-compliant ecosystem, bridging the therapeutic wearable’s LED-based device with a cloud-connected mobile experience that powered both the participant and service provider interfaces.
The Challenge
The client needed a solution that could securely synchronize medical-grade sensor data from the therapeutic wearable device to a cloud environment, where clinicians could review and analyze participant sessions.
The system had to meet three key requirements:
Seamless BLE–Cloud Data Synchronization: Maintain reliable, low-latency communication between the device and mobile app during therapy sessions.
HIPAA-Compliant Infrastructure: Ensure data privacy and security for sensitive medical information, from device capture to cloud storage.
Intuitive Dual Interfaces: Build two distinct yet unified user experiences, one for the service provider and another for the participant, each tailored to their roles within the treatment cycle.
The Process
Working closely with the company’s research and medical teams, I led the full-stack implementation process from concept to production.
1. Infrastructure & Compliance
I architected the AWS environment using secure VPCs, IAM role separation, and encrypted S3 storage for medical session data. Lambda functions and API Gateway facilitated communication between the mobile client and backend, with AWS Cognito managing authentication under strict HIPAA alignment.
2. Device Integration (BLE & AI Transcribing)
The wearable device was built around a continuous feedback loop, using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to transmit session metrics. I engineered the BLE integration layer within the mobile app to record, sync, and verify data integrity in real time.
On the AI side, I developed a transcription pipeline that converted session logs into readable clinical data, an early step toward the platform’s future adaptive feedback model.
3. Frontend Experience
I designed and built the React Native frontends for both the participant and service provider interfaces. The participant interface emphasized simplicity and guidance, while the provider dashboard included session insights, compliance reports, and device connectivity metrics. Both shared the same design DNA - clean, clinical, and calming.
4. Secure Data Flow
Every session’s data journey followed a tightly controlled pipeline:
Device → Mobile App (BLE) → Secure API → Encrypted Cloud Storage → AI Transcribing Layer → Provider Dashboard.
This framework ensured auditability and end-to-end data protection.
The Outcome
The result was a unified neurotechnology ecosystem, combining medical-grade hardware, intelligent software, and regulatory security. The company successfully launched its pilot program with multiple therapy centers across the U.S., validating the wearable’s effectiveness and data accuracy through the system I engineered.
The project has since set the foundation for future AI-driven personalization, allowing clinicians to monitor progress and adjust therapy parameters dynamically based on transcribed session data.
Impact
Successfully delivered a HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure built on AWS.
Integrated BLE-based real-time data synchronization between wearable and app.
Developed an AI transcription layer for clinical data processing.
Built dual mobile interfaces for service providers and participants.
Enabled the company to conduct national clinical trials with full compliance.
Closing Thoughts
This project stands as one of the most technically and emotionally rewarding experiences of my career. It blended innovation, compassion, and engineering precision, bringing a life-changing therapy platform to reality while upholding the highest standards of medical compliance and data security.
