Museum of World Athletics

Ellie Sunman

The Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) is World Athletics’ official museum, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the sport’s rich history through both its immersive virtual tour and in-person exhibitions.
I was invited to explore MOWA’s virtual gallery and curate a selection of artefacts to produce a series of videos that told the captivating stories behind them. A lack of video footage challenged me to get creative, using a mix of visual mediums to shape each piece of content. Each video spotlighted the person or event connected to the artefact, while also encouraging viewers to dive deeper into the museum - either online or in person at the MOWA exhibition in Tokyo ahead of the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
I'm incredibly grateful to have led a project that celebrates history and these remarkable stories. Seeing this series connect with over two million people is enriching and a reminder of why I love the work I do.
