As part of our coursework in A Level Film Studies, we were tasked to create either a screenplay or a short film that had to follow a range of narrative or genre criteria. I decided to create a screenplay that focused on a linear narrative within a fixed genre of my choice which would be a psychological thriller/crime story.

Thus, the synopsis of my screenplay follows a young boy finally coming back to his hometown after years of being in a mental asylum ward only to experience unusual encounters with the neighbourhood community
The process of creating the story consisted of consistent research around many psychological thriller films and stories to gain some sort of inspiration for how the narrative would usually develop or play out. I tend to gravitate towards creating or investing in relevant mature topics, for example: I am interested in stories that involve specifically internal conflict within a character or a character within a strongly external conflicting environment and how they manage through the challenges and obstacles personally, significantly in a mental/psychological context.
With consistent brainstorming and researching ideas around the concept of my screenplay project, I managed to make a rough outline of what I wanted to explore in my story which was the cycle of human destruction/abuse - presenting the consequences and impacts of strongly internalised grudges/hatred on oneself and on the people around you.
