A short story inspired by a poem

I was asked to craft a story based on ‘Mad Girl's Love Song’, a poem by Sylvia Plath, while springing as far from the literal storyline of the poem as possible to prioritize the themes. From this, a story about a doomed love originated, which ended for rather dark reasons.
