REVERSE: REBIRTH — 61-second independent AI science-fiction short
When a familiar world starts to come apart.
REVERSE: REBIRTH is a 61-second independent AI science-fiction short by PONTA FILMS. It explores memory, loss and rebirth through a woman moving through an impossible city. The film brings intimate human moments and large-scale surreal imagery into the same short narrative.
The story and visual language
A smiling face, an empty chair and a photograph establish a personal world. Fragmenting brickwork, a disrupted city and glowing details on the protagonist turn that emotional landscape into something physical. The contrast between ordinary objects and extraordinary events keeps the science-fiction imagery connected to a human relationship.
Directing the sequence
The film alternates close character moments with wider views of the environment. Warm interior light and the cool city palette distinguish different emotional spaces, while recurring faces and personal objects link the scenes. The short runtime calls for visual storytelling that can suggest a larger world without explaining every detail.
My contribution
I developed the creative direction, produced the AI visuals and edited the finished short. My focus was on shaping the shots into an emotional sequence rather than presenting them as unrelated visual effects. Character framing, the order of images and the rhythm of the edit all contribute to that continuity.
The finished work
The result is a compact, vertical-format narrative film that demonstrates character-led direction, atmospheric world-building and AI-assisted cinematic imagery. This self-initiated film is presented as a narrative portfolio sample, with the complete short available above.
