Old School Gaming Tribute – Motion Design Series
This project is a tribute to the aesthetics of classic arcade games from the 1980s and 1990s.
I aimed to capture the energy, simplicity, and nostalgia of that era through a series of motion design pieces fully created in Adobe After Effects, inspired by iconic titles such as Pac-Man and Pong, yet reimagined in a modern design context.
Later, I created a second short animation — The Explorers — a narrative mini-clip in the same retro arcade style, symbolizing a digital expedition in search of the right freelancer.
Video 1 – Classic Arcade Revival (Pac-Man & Pong)
The first video merges two of the most recognizable games in classic arcade culture: Pac-Man and Pong.
I recreated both environments using minimalist vector shapes and vibrant neon colors, enhanced with modern motion design techniques.
Each movement was carefully keyframed, with lighting and glow effects used to evoke the nostalgic atmosphere of an old-school arcade hall.

Video 2 – The Explorers (Arcade Narrative Short)

In this short animation, two explorers embark on a digital journey through a labyrinth in search of “the right freelancer.”
The project combines storytelling with a pixel-art-inspired aesthetic reminiscent of 1990s adventure games.
I used minimalist vector animation, a warm color palette, and subtle lighting to recreate the sense of exploration and discovery.
The dialogue box and scene transitions mimic the charm of old 2D video games with on-screen text prompts.

This mini-series is part of a creative direction where I merge modern motion design with retro gaming nostalgia.
The goal is to evoke emotion, curiosity, and movement through a familiar yet visually engaging language — a fusion between vintage storytelling and contemporary animation craft.
