A politics of heart
In chambers deep where feelings dwell,
A silent council holds its spell.
No laws, no courts, no black-robed gaze,
Just fragile hopes in tangled maze.
The heart, it holds a parliament,
Where love and fear are sentient,
Debating dreams with tender care,
In smoke-filled rooms of thin-pulled air.
Ambition flares in passion’s cries,
But mercy tempers cunning’s lies.
Each longing files a careful plea,
In hopes of sovereignty to be free.
Desires clash like banners bold,
While jealousy stands firm and cold.
Trust, the chair, calls order, “Peace,”
Yet trust itself finds no release.
Beneath the veil of veins and flesh,
A thousand hopes convene and mesh.
They draft decrees, amend, contest,
And yet leave love half-unexpressed.
Oh, politics of hearts unknown,
A congress swayed, a fragile throne.
Where every beat and breath impart,
The silent schemes, the wars of heart.
So, when you feel the weight inside,
Know love itself was politicized,
A whisper, then, from soul departs—
In quiet chambers of the heart.
