Silicon Valley Breaker & Control sells new, used and hard-to-find electrical parts out of San Jose. Their site had template copy still live, twelve product pages sharing one photo, and a search that just bounced you to the old store. We rebuilt the site, built a working parts search, and made a demo that walks the owner through every change with the numbers on screen.
These are demos we prepared for SVBC. They are not live on svbcinc.com.
The rebuilt home page
What we built
A rebuilt site. The client's own warehouse photography, a real disconnect switch as the hero, and every product shot from five sides instead of one shared stock image.
A search across the whole catalog. There was no API, so we pulled 66,216 part records out of the old site's pages and built a search that loads in pieces. Type part of a catalog number and results show as you type, with brand, amps and poles.
Searching HLD63 returns 16 Siemens breakers
A demo the owner can click through. Drag a line across the old page to reveal the new one, then step through eight numbered fixes.
What is wrong today, what we built
The numbers
Requests on first load went from over 110 to 20. Requests to other companies' servers went from 38 to zero. Page weight went from 2.59 MB to 0.96 MB. Lighthouse performance went from 71 to 100.
Measured, not promised
Built for how parts get sold
Every spec on a product page says whether it was read off the label, inferred, or not legible, so nothing is padded. The quote form pulls part type, brand, amps, poles and quantity out of a plain sentence and asks for whatever is missing.
