THE DANCE BEFORE SILENCE

What happens in the moment before an artwork becomes still?

Our starting point was Goddess Durga Slaying the Demon Mahisha, a 9th-century sculpture from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The original freezes Durga at the height of her power: multi-armed, armed by the gods, defeating Mahisha and restoring order against destruction.

We wanted to imagine the world beyond that frozen frame.

In The Dance Before Silence, Durga is given movement again. Inside a temple on the edge of war, she performs one final dance: not as decoration, but as an expression of power, life and defiance before violence turns movement into silence.

As the film progresses, the living world moves toward stillness, until Durga returns to the iconic form that inspired the piece.

Using FLORA as our creative canvas, we developed the visual world through connected references, image generation and motion, preserving the identity and physical language of the original sculpture while transforming a single historical object into a cinematic narrative.

The piece asks a simple question:

When war destroys a moment, can art be the thing that refuses to let it disappear?
