Transforming a local cookie shop's website from a static menu into a dynamic community-driven experience.

Overview

El Cookie is a local cookie shop known for its creative and unique flavours, community events, and loyal customer base. The existing website lacked the energy and fun appeal that the brand expresses on Instagram, and it made it difficult for customers to find important information including seeing the unique cookies.
The redesign resulted in a stronger and more recognizable brand presence while improving how products and the story behind El Cookie are showcased online.

The Challenge

The original website faced several usability and content challenges:
The original website lacked a clear visual identity presence and weak branding.
Products were not showcased effectively.
The menu existed as a PDF screenshot, making updates difficult and creating a poor mobile experience.
Events and community initiatives were hard to discover.
Store hours and key information were not immediately visible.
The client needed more flexibility to manage content independently.

The Solution

Working alongside designer Luis Borja, I helped redesign and develop the website in Framer to create a faster, more engaging, and easier-to-manage experience.
Over a three-week collaboration with the business owner, we refined the brand direction through mood boards, colour exploration, and site architecture planning. Every page and interaction was designed with clear intent which is to help customers quickly discover products, find events, and essential business information.

On the development side, I built a custom CMS structure that included:
Dynamic menu management
Cookie gallery library
Cookie of the Month feature
This allowed the client to update content without relying on developers while keeping the site consistent and scalable.

Results

The redesign resulted in a stronger and more recognizable brand presence, while improving how products and the story behind El Cookie are showcased online. The client can now easily manage menus, featured cookies, and events without relying on developers. The new website provides greater visibility for community initiatives and upcoming events, delivers a faster and more lightweight browsing experience, and improves SEO and overall discoverability.
Most importantly, customers can quickly access essential information such as store hours, locations, and offerings, creating a smoother and more intuitive user experience.
