Taming the Perfect Trade: Implementing Scalable Architecture + Fixes for a High-Growth Bolt.new Application

Client: Swing

Trading Lab (The Perfect Trade Application @ theperfecttrade.net)

Focus:

Application Stability, Critical Bug Fixing, and DevOps Workflow Implementation

Key Results:

Resolved critical bugs (Auth, Data Integrity for 7,000+ trades and 30,000+ users, Image Loading) that were stalling the CTO's team for weeks, in a single week.
Introduced professional Git, Branching, and Testing methodology.
Established a secure, repeatable "Golden Path" deployment workflow.

🚀 The Challenge: Success Outpaced Structure

Swing Trading Lab’s The Perfect Trade Application—a journal and analysis tool supporting their 30,000+ user base and logging over 7,000 trades—achieved massive success built on the rapid development platform Bolt.new (integrated with Vercel and Supabase).
The challenge was a critical misalignment between this explosive user growth and operational maturity. The "MVP workflow" (coding directly to production and lacking systematic version control) led to severe instability.

Most critically, the client's team had been stuck for weeks trying to resolve major bugs that compromised core functionality:
Critical Stability Issues: Authentication failures and poor image loading experience.
Data Integrity Failure: Unreliable trade logging, including table insert errors and instances where users lost their saved journals.
Zero Version Control: High risk of catastrophic production breaks with every code change.

🛠️ The Intervention: Rapid Stabilization & Process Implementation

The goal was to provide immediate, decisive relief on the most pressing technical blockers, then secure the platform's future against further instability.
1. Decisive Critical Bug Resolution
In a short week, the three primary blockers that had stalled the client's team for weeks were fixed:
Restored Core Functionality: Immediately resolved the complex issues causing authentication errors and frustrating image loading issues, improving user experience and access.
Securing Data Integrity: Located and resolved the logic causing table insert errors and the severe data loss problem where users lost their saved trade journals—the single greatest risk to the business.
2. Architecting the "Golden Path" Workflow
With stability restored, the focus shifted to professionalizing the deployment process, moving away from the risky "main branch only" environment.
Introducing Version Control: Established a proper Git workflow, ending the practice of "coding directly to the main branch."
Process Education: Created a custom "Git Branch Visualizer" tool directly within Bolt to simplify the concepts of branching, merging, and team development logic.
A demo of the branch visualizer, also available on the following Contra post:
The "Golden Path" Guide: Developed and delivered a complete package of videos, documentation, and support, including a custom recorded guide detailing the secure, repeatable process for pushing changes from Bolt to Github to Vercel, and a strategy for implementing Unit and E2E testing.

📈 Results & Client Success

The rapid intervention transformed the client’s operational capacity, allowing the CTO to focus on product growth rather than firefighting.
The platform is now secured by a mature development process, making it much less likely to have a serious issue with production breaking, and is fully positioned to handle future feature expansion atop its foundation of 30,000+ successful users.

"Working with Andrés was great. He quickly understood our technical issues, fixed everything efficiently, and explained the process clearly. High-quality work and helped us solve problems we had for weeks. Awesome job!"
