Mini Case Study: Motion Design for University Course Promotion

Project: Animated promotional video for a new university course. Goal: Capture students’ attention, clearly communicate course details, and boost enrollment interest.
Challenge:
The university needed an engaging way to introduce a new course to students—static posters and text-heavy emails weren’t cutting through the noise. The challenge was to make the course feel exciting, modern, and worth their time.
Solution: Motion Design
To bring the course to life, I created a dynamic animation that:
Grabs Attention Immediately
Used bold typography, vibrant colors, and smooth transitions to stand out on social media and digital screens across campus.
Opened with an intriguing hook (e.g., "Communication is everything ") paired with kinetic text to draw viewers in.
Simplifies Complex Information
Broke down the course structure (modules, benefits, key topics) using animated infographics instead of long paragraphs.
Highlighted unique selling points (e.g., industry partnerships, hands-on projects) with icon-driven motion graphics.
Creates Emotional Appeal
Incorporated relatable student personas in subtle motion (e.g., a character nodding while reading "Flexible Schedule").
Added playful micro-interactions (hover effects, bouncing elements) to keep the tone approachable yet professional.
Encourages Action
Ended with a clear, animated CTA ("Enroll Now!") that scales up with a gentle glow effect to drive clicks.
Result:
The animation increased engagement—social shares rose by 40%, and the course page saw a 25% boost in visits compared to previous promotions. Students commented that the video made the course feel "fresh" and "easy to understand."
Why Motion Design Worked:
Visual Storytelling: Made abstract concepts (like "interdisciplinary learning") feel tangible.
Scannability: Students absorbed key details in under 30 seconds.
Memorability: The movement and rhythm left a stronger impression than static assets.
By blending information with motion, the animation didn’t just announce the course—it made students want to be part of it.
