Overview 🔎
When we started mixing the whole project we didn't have anything specific in mind. It was more of a back and forth type. So as soon as we would find the essence and aesthetic we liked for the first song of the album we had sort of a recipe that it could apply to the rest of the songs. Each song of this album had it's own vibe while listening to the project for the top to finish unveiled the whole story. And by that, we managed after countless hours of talking on the phone and doing back and forth, to create a mix that sounds cohesive and warm, a mix that fits perfect the scenery of the story the artist is showing us.
Problem & Solution 🤝
Because I work by talking directly with the artist while doing a mix or a master, the only "problem" I faced was to find out the best way I could work together with the artist. Which that was solved while mixing the first song of the project.
Goals/Requirements: Here are some things I had to keep in mind before finishing each song. • No weird clicks/hiss or noise. • The mix should sound good in different speakers. • Every song should sound cohesive with each other.
Process 🛣
While working on that project, mixing was almost a daily routine. In order to achieve the desired sound we wanted I had to learn how to best utilise the tools that I had at this moment. Each different project you work on gives you lots of new lessons. Some of the lessons I learnt by this project was to better understand how the room you're working in helps you or acts against you.
Results 🎁
After tons of micro changes to each song we decided that every track sounded exactly how we wanted to sound. The mix was finished , the artist send it out for mastering and a few months later the whole album was released :) .
