The brief:

Body Buddy is a health app that needed a short explainer animation something that could live on their social medias and communicate the product's value in under 45 seconds. The ask seemed simple on paper: animate the concept, sync it to VO, make it feel alive.
But the project quickly revealed its real layers. The original script and VO didn't quite land, the timing felt off and certain sections needed tightening before any animation could begin. On top of that, the logo needed rethinking before it could be animated properly. One project became three problems to solve at once.

The deliverables:

Explainer animation
Full motion piece synced to VO, built for web and social formats.

Sound Design
Refined the mark to be animation-ready. Clean geometry, consistent stroke weights.

VO sync & timing
Worked through multiple takes and trims to find a rhythm that felt natural on screen.

Storyboard iterations
Three rounds of storyboarding to lock in the visual narrative before touching After Effects.

The process:

01
Fix the foundation first
Before storyboarding a single frame, the VO script needed work. Sections were trimmed, the pacing restructured, and the wording sharpened so the animation would have something solid to lock onto. Animation is only as good as the script underneath it.

02
Three rounds of storyboarding
Each storyboard pass sharpened the visual narrative. The first round established the structure, the second refined transitions and key moments, the third locked timing against the VO. Nothing hit After Effects until the story felt right on paper.

03
Animation & VO sync
With everything locked, the animation could move fast. The real work in this phase was the fine-tuning — making sure every visual beat landed exactly where the VO breathed, so the two felt like one thing rather than two things happening at the same time.

04
Sound Design
With everything locked, the animation could move fast. The real work in this phase was the fine-tuning — making sure every visual beat landed exactly where the VO breathed, so the two felt like one thing rather than two things happening at the same time.

What made this one different:

Most explainer projects are a single sprint. This one rewarded patience. Taking time upfront to fix the script, rethink the logo, and iterate three times on the storyboard meant the animation phase was clean and fast instead of chaotic and expensive.
The logo redesign was the unexpected win. A mark that was already "fine" became something the client was actually proud of and now it animates exactly as intended.
