Believe it or not when planning to sell your home, you need to start editing yourself out of it. You need to look at your home with fresh eyes, the eyes of a buyer. 
A common misconception as a seller is thinking everyone will see your home exactly the way you do, good or bad. You may think some things are charming while a potential buyer may think “how much will that cost to fix or replace?” As you look around your home you want to look at it as if you were a buyer, remove yourself from the scenario. Consider these five major styling and decor don’ts when preparing to list your home. 
Not de-personalizing. 
Many homeowners make the mistake of assuming their interests and belongings will be appreciated by others. Yes, I know you love your coin collection and you want everyone to love it too…however, when selling that is not the time or place. Instead, you want potential buyers to walk into your home and imagine their own things there. Remove personal photos, political and religious items, excess books, furniture and collectibles. Edit down and show more wall space and floor space, this will reveal how much space your home truly has. 
2. Oversized furniture 
The problem with oversized furniture is it overwhelms the space and shrinks the room by half the actual size. Imagine walking into the living room of the house you’re touring and you barely make your way around an overstuffed leather sectional. The room seems big but you can’t get past the red flags and this oversized sofa…literally!
