Overview

An e-commerce business was preparing to scale its email marketing but was restricted by Amazon SES Sandbox, limiting its ability to send emails to verified recipients only.

Goal

The goal was to secure Amazon SES Production Access by demonstrating a legitimate sending use case, strong list management practices, and compliance with Amazon's sending policies.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was meeting Amazon's strict review requirements. This involved clearly documenting the client's email workflow, creating a professional sending website, implementing email authentication (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC), explaining bounce and complaint handling procedures, and refining the production access request after feedback from previous submissions.

Solutions/ Outcome

Through careful preparation and a well-documented application, the request was successfully approved, enabling the client to move into production.
This experience strengthened my understanding of Amazon SES policies, email compliance, sender reputation, and deliverability best practices.
With production access granted, the business could send campaigns at scale, automate customer communications, improve email reliability, and build a strong sender reputation for long-term growth.
