A Middle Eastern public company was wondering why so many of their design engineers were leaving. Turnover was more than in other departments.
Why is this a problem
The high turnover of design engineers results in a loss of knowledge. The company was loosing its know-how quicker than it could re-create it with new hires. This made it hard for the company to do their work.
In addition, the company run into issues hiring new engineers. It was known that the experience for engineers wasn't great.
Data collection
Interviews pointed to the lack of career development opportunities. There were also team work issues that made the work less enjoyable. A survey confirmed these findings.
