Jenka Lab is a premier manufacturer of commercial arcade machines, custom cabinets, and game boards. With high-ticket hardware configurations reaching $4,000+ per unit, their e-commerce storefront demanded an instant, app-like buying experience with zero page bloat.

I architected and shipped a modern headless e-commerce solution: separating the frontend presentation layer completely from the commerce engine by combining Astro with Vendure.

Islands Architecture: Leveraged Astro’s partial hydration model to deliver static HTML for catalogs and product listings, hydrating JavaScript only for interactive islands (cart badges, filters, quantity tickers).

Zero Layout Shift (CLS 0): Enforced strict image dimensions and responsive aspect ratios for complex 3D product renders, guaranteeing sub-50ms Interaction to Next Paint (INP).

Optimistic Cart State: Built an instant, state-driven cart with step-by-step progress tracking (Cart → Shipping → Payment → Complete).

Real-Time Tax & Inventory Sync: Integrated directly with Vendure’s backend API to validate live inventory quotas, calculate regional sales tax dynamically, and apply promotional codes without full page reloads.

High-Ticket Product Variations: Engineered dynamic product detail views handling technical specifications, dimensions, weight attributes, and add-on hardware (bill validators, card readers, joystick configurations).

Instant Category Filtering: Created client-side instant filtering across cabinet form factors (Vertical, Dual Screen, Classic Arcade) and game board editions.

Sub-Second Transitions: Blazing fast navigation between catalogue, product specs, and checkout.

Conversion-Driven Architecture: A frictionless, gamified shopping journey built for both wholesale distributors and individual venue operators.
