The Problem

IAWO PLACES needed production-grade cloud infrastructure to support a travel and tourism platform with real-time features, user authentication, and the ability to scale globally. The existing setup was fragile and couldn't handle concurrent users reliably.

The Solution

I architected and deployed a full production infrastructure on Firebase and Google Cloud, with a React frontend optimized for performance and global reach.
How it works:
Firebase provides authentication (social login, email, phone), real-time database, and cloud storage
Google Cloud handles compute workloads, API gateway, and CDN distribution
React frontend connects to Firebase SDK for real-time data updates
Automated deployment pipeline pushes updates with zero downtime
Monitoring stack tracks performance, errors, and user activity in real time
Key features:
Multi-provider authentication (Google, Facebook, email, phone)
Real-time data sync for listings, reviews, and user interactions
Global CDN with edge caching for fast load times worldwide
Auto-scaling compute that adjusts to traffic patterns
Automated backups and disaster recovery
Cost optimization with reserved instances and usage-based scaling

Tech Stack

Cloud: Firebase, Google Cloud
Frontend: React
DevOps: CI/CD, automated monitoring and alerting

Results

Platform handles 10x the concurrent users compared to previous infrastructure
Global load times under 200ms via CDN
99.95% uptime over the first 6 months
Infrastructure costs optimized to 35% below initial projections
Zero data loss incidents
