Problem Statement

Negligence of mental health in India: Mental health issues in India are often neglected and are considered as trivial issues. People fail to acknowledge that one’s mental well being plays a crucial role in carrying out day to day activities. India has one of the highest prevalence of mental illnesses globally. National Mental Health Survey 2016 found that close to 14% of India’s population required active mental health interventions. Roughly 56 million Indians suffer from depression and 38 million suffer from some anxiety disorder.
Hesitation in sharing problems with family: People often find it difficult to open up to their peers fearing that their issues would go unheard or might get joked off. People tend to act “normal” owing to the judgmental society which keeps them from getting help.
Expensive Therapy: In order to resolve any issue, multiple therapy sessions are required. To some, therapy is luxury. As people can’t afford therapy it becomes difficult for them to get proper guidance in regards to their issue.

Solution

Design an app that helps its users to express their emotions, work on their mental health and cultivate habits that improve their lifestyle. Providing a safe space through which the users can connect to therapists and mental health specialists. An app which provides features such as mood tracker, gratitude journal, lucid meditation techniques, etc.
