A Real-Time Crisis Response System for Mental Health Clinics

SerenPulse is a mental health SaaS platform designed to help clinics respond more effectively to patient crisis alerts. The platform connects Specialists and Assistants through a shared workflow, ensuring that urgent cases are acknowledged, assigned, and resolved without confusion or duplicated effort.

The goal was to improve crisis response coordination within mental health clinics by creating a system that provides clear ownership of alerts, real-time visibility across team members, and access to critical patient information during emergencies.

I explored common challenges in crisis triage workflows and identified three key issues: • Specialists often lack visibility into actions being taken by Assistants. • Multiple team members may respond to the same alert, creating duplicated effort. • Assistants frequently make decisions without access to important patient context.

I focused on reducing uncertainty during high-pressure situations by designing a workflow that clearly communicates who is handling an alert, what actions have been taken, and what information is needed to make informed decisions.

Design Execution: • Designed a real-time alert ownership system that allows Assistants to claim and manage crisis alerts. • Created status indicators that instantly update across user roles, providing clear visibility into alert progress. • Designed a Rescue Intelligence Center that displays patient vitals, risk trends, and location information to support faster decision-making. • Implemented action logging and resolution workflows to improve accountability and create an auditable record of responses.

The final solution transformed crisis management from a fragmented process into a coordinated workflow. By making alert ownership visible in real time and providing contextual patient data, the design reduced ambiguity, improved team awareness, and created a more efficient response experience for mental health professionals.
