I haven't watched many documentaries to call a certain one my 'favourite', but a recent one that I liked is called The Social Dilemma where tech experts speak about the dangerous impact of social media, and how Big Tech uses it in an attempt to manipulate and influence people. From memory, what I liked about the film was that it was very engaging in the way they formatted, told and edited the story. They had tech experts from Silicon Valley who spoke about the issue in a very scientific way, in which they would provide evidence. This was then coupled with case studies, including narration of how it was affecting everyday people. From memory, I think they had actors re-enact some of the case studies. They may have even had people who worked for companies like Facebook or Instagram come in and talk about how they designed the app to leave people addicted. The documentary felt like it had the objective of alarming the audience, and I was left not wanting to touch my phone by the end of it. The statements they were saying weren't necessarily something I didn't know about, i.e. social media companies leave you addicted to the platform, but they conveyed it in a way that made me want to listen and inspired action (at least for a week or so...)
