Jackson State University (an HBCU in Mississippi). The article discusses the impact of the Institutional Change through Faculty Advancement in Instruction and Mentoring (ICFAIM) program, which provided long-term professional development to STEM faculty over 5 years to improve teaching practices and student outcomes. The program emphasized incremental exposure to novel pedagogies, resulting in changes in faculty attitudes and teaching methods, even among initially resistant participants, and led to the development of new student support programs and curriculum revisions. Despite challenges such as time constraints and skepticism, the study highlights the importance of sustained, incentivized professional development in fostering inclusive and effective STEM education for JSU students.
